The snake has been a powerful image since the Victorian era and continues to be popular even in modern jewelry. It has been an inspiration for jewelry design for ages, often used to symbolize eternity, everlasting love, life and protection.
A wonderful coiled hair snake bracelet from the Victorian era (ca1880). Her body is woven hair, which is soft and wraps around the wrist nicely. The repoussé head and tail are 14kt gold. The snake’s mouth rests open to reveal her ‘charming’ gold fangs and two garnets represent her eyes. A fabulous and rare bracelet for the Victorian collector!
Measurements: The opening where a wrist would rest measures approximately 2″ wide. The inner-circumfrance measures approximately 6″. The width of the bracelet is approximately 1/4″. The bracelet would fit nicely on a small to medium wrist.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. There are some minor strands of hair that are loose, however, it does not detract from the bracelet.
