French paste is a vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700’s, created the look of sparkling gemstones or diamonds, but cost much less than using real stones.

Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 17 1/2″ long. The largest French paste stones at the center measures about 6.25mm in diameter and the smallest measures about 5mm in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is great. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold-filled setting
or to the French paste stones, all of which are intact. The push clasp is secure and in good working condition.
