A fantastic tortoise shell pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Now a banned material, antique tortoise shell jewelry has become very collectible. This unusual piece features a hand carved tortoise shell pendant that hangs from a large gold ring at the top. The rich tortoise shell varies in color, with wonderful shades of deep brown marbled with amber and caramel hues. At the center of the pendant is a raised 3-dimensional design resting above the smooth surface. The image depicts an overlapping set of initials (appearing to be “E.B.”) that are textured with hand-carved detail. A beautiful and unusual Victorian piece, it is comfortably lightweight and would look wonderful hanging from a favorite chain!
Measurements: The tortoise shell pendant hangs 2 1/4″ long, measures 1 1/4″ wide, and is 1/2″ thick at the center.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the tortoise shell pendant, which is free of any apparent chips or scratches. The large tortoise shell ring at the top is secure and intact.
