A fabulous coral conversion pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece was originally a Victorian pin that has since been converted into a pendant for modern day wear. The 3-dimensional piece is formed by four rows of graduating coral beads that encircle an oval shaped coral cabochon at the center. The natural coral beads, which are strung on silver wire, have a rich salmon color and form a dramatic convex cluster. The beads attach to a sterling silver frame and collectively they form a pendant which is quite substantial in size. Finishing the design are three teardrop shaped coral beads that dangle freely from the bottom of the pendant, adding wonderful movement to the design. Attached to the top of the piece is a simple 9kt rose gold bail, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain. When worn, it makes a wonderful statement piece that would delight any coral lover!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2 1/2″ long (including the bail at the top). The pendant itself measures a little more than 2″ long, about 1″ wide and 5/8″ thick.
Condition: The pendant is in great antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting and the bail is secure and in good working condition. All of the coral beads are intact and securely set. One of the larger teardrop-shaped beads has a small chip at the top where the wire is riveted, however, this is not noticeable when the piece is worn.
